new zealand sea salt (fine)
|
New Zealand is located in the south-west Pacific Ocean and is comprised of two
major islands and a number of lesser islands. Between the North and South
Islands of New Zealand runs the Cook Strait. The crystal clear waters of
the Cook Straight combine with warm, dry northwest winds and the heat of the sun
to produce an exceptional sea salt.
The evaporation ponds at Lake Grassmere on the South Island are harvested at the
end of every summer to maintain the mineral balance. The creamy color of
New Zealand sea salt is a result of its natural mineral content.
Our organic New Zealand sea salt is also available in coarse crystals for grinding.
Variations in mineral content and harvesting methods create the unique look and
taste of individual sea salts. Differences in flavor are subtle yet
delicious. To get the most out of sea salts, add them after cooking and do
not use sea salts on highly seasoned foods.
