cumin
|
Cumin is an aromatic Middle Eastern spice with a distinctive dark, earthy flavor
that many people associate with chile con carne.
Cumin's strong flavor makes it a good choice for soups and stews, particularly
those which are simmered for a long time. Long slow cooking mellows the
spice and softens its texture to a pleasant chewiness. Cumin also gives a
fine punch to mild flavors like fresh cheese, breads and crackers.
Cumin is the second most popular spice in the world (black pepper is number
one). It has been an important staple spice for centuries in many
cultures, especially those of Latin America, North Africa, the eastern
Mediterranean and India.
Cumin is one of the main ingredients in curry powder and is also an important
spice in chili powder which is used extensively in the United States, Mexico and
Europe. Cumin also works well in marinades for poultry, beef, pork and
fish.
We are happy to offer both whole cumin seeds and ground cumin at excellent
prices.
When storing herbs and spices packaging is an important consideration.
Plastic zip seal bags allow aroma and taste to escape and shorten the flavor
life of your herbs and spices.
We package our herbs and spices in food grade PET plastic jars. These
clear, dense jars allow you to see your herbs and spices while still sealing in
all the aroma and flavor so you get maximum life from your ingredients.
