Originating in western Asia, the pistachio was first introduced to America in
1854. Although experimental plantings were made in several states it
wasn't until the late 1970's that pistachios became a commercial crop in the
US. While most pastchios are consumed directly, pistachios are popular in
pastries, candies, ice cream, bakery goods and sausages.
Faerie's pistachio extract is an easy way to add this unique nutty taste to not
only baking recipes but casseroles, dressings and other dishes.
