apple-rum pork chops

featuring faerie's pork blend seasonings, vanilla extract, and luscious lemon sugar

first brown the pork chops
4 pork chops (any variety) - 1 " thick
faerie's savory pork blend
olive oil

  • Sprinkle pork chops with pork blend and rub the seasoning into the meat (for maximum flavor, let pork chops sit while you are preparing other ingredients).
  • Heat a large dutch oven and add oil - always remember, add cold oil to a hot pan and foods won't stick.
  • Brown chops on both sides over medium high heat.
  • Remove from pan after browning.
then prepare the apple mixture
1 medium onion - diced fine
2 Granny Smith apples - diced fine
1 cup rum
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 tbsp luscious lemon or regular sugar

  • Reduce heat to medium and add onions.  Sauté until translucent.
  • Add apples and mix well with onions.  Sauté for 3-4 minutes.
  • Add rum and vanilla extract and increase heat to medium high.
  • Let cook for about 5 minutes to reduce some of the liquid.
  • Sprinkle sugar over apple-onion mixture and stir well.
  • Place pork chops on top of mixture and cover.
  • Reduce heat to a simmer and cook for 10 more minutes.

  • Apple mixture can be served over the pork chops or on the side.
  • Serves 4
