homemade root beer

featuring faerie's natural root beer flavor

1 tbsp faerie's natural root beer flavor
1¼ cup sugar
1 pint (16 oz) filtered water
1 tsp faerie's natural vanilla extract (optional)

Make a simple syrup by dissolving the sugar into the water. Shake well.
Add the root beer flavor to the syrup and mix well.
For richer flavor, add the vanilla extract to the mixture.
Chill the root beer syrup in the refrigerator.

To make root beer, add 3 ounces of the chilled syrup to a chilled pint container.
Add sufficient carbonated water to fill the container.
Mix by gently rocking bottle about 4 times.
