Sea salt refers to salt that is harvested from salt ponds. These salt
ponds are formed when sea water is channeled into shallow beds.
Wind and sun evaporate the ocean water, leaving a mineral-rich brine that is
stirred until salt crystals form. The sea salt is then gathered by hand
to preserve the vital balance of minerals that gives each of our sea salts
its own distinctive flavor.
Variations in mineral content and harvesting methods create the unique look
and taste of individual sea salts. Differences in flavor are subtle yet
delicious. To get the most out of sea salts, add them after cooking and
do not use sea salts on highly seasoned foods.
Our sea salt products are available in ½ cup, 1 cup and 2 cup shaker-top jars (weights
vary by product). Coarse salts are also offered in convenient plastic grinder top jars
and all sea salt varieties can be purchased in resealable refill and value bags.
